Il nome “WYV85” potrebbe non suggerire nulla ai più, ma le sue origini sono da ricondurre alla storica band parmigiana Wyvern.

Il nucleo originale del gruppo nasce infatti nel lontano 1985 dall’incontro tra gli attuali componenti: Fausto Tinello (basso),  Fabio Bonaccorsi (voce),  Giovanni Cripotos (chitarra) e  Giorgio Cremonesini (batteria).

Quella prima incarnazione dei Wyvern durò solo pochi mesi, ma i musicisti  proseguirono  comunque  ciascuno il proprio percorso: Fabio e Fausto mantenendo il nome Wyvern e orientandosi verso un power metal di matrice teutonica, Giovanni e Giorgio dedicandosi a diversi progetti locali ed esplorando vari generi musicali con differenti line-up.

L’idea di una reunion prende forma nel 2019 grazie all’iniziativa di Fausto, spinto non solo dall’ “ondata di nostalgia” che ha caratterizzato la scena metal (italiana e internazionale) negli ultimi anni, ma soprattutto dal desiderio di riportare alla luce le sonorità e l’energia dell’Hard ’n’ Heavy degli esordi, arricchite però da una maggiore maturità musicale e da un bagaglio tecnico più solido.

La decisione di adottare il nuovo nome WYV85 – con “WYV” come richiamo alle radici e “85” a ricordare l’anno della fondazione – risponde alla volontà di distinguersi chiaramente dall’attività dei Wyvern, band che pur non più attiva  da anni non è mai stata ufficialmente sciolta.

Con "WYV85", torniamo oggi a calcare la scena con passione, esperienza e una nuova linfa creativa, pronti a offrire al pubblico un sound che fonda tradizione e modernità, memoria e futuro.

The name “WYV85” may not ring a bell for most people, but its origins can be traced back to the historic band from Parma, Wyvern.

The original core of the group was formed back in 1985 from the meeting of the current members: Fausto Tinello (bass), Fabio Bonaccorsi (vocals), Giovanni Cripotos (guitar), and Giorgio Cremonesini (drums).

That first incarnation of Wyvern lasted only a few months, but the musicians continued along their own paths: Fabio and Fausto keeping the Wyvern name and heading toward a German-style power metal, while Giovanni and Giorgio devoted themselves to various local projects, exploring different musical genres with different line-ups.

The idea of a reunion took shape in 2019 thanks to Fausto’s initiative, driven not only by the “wave of nostalgia” that has marked the metal scene (both Italian and international) in recent years, but above all by the desire to revive the sounds and energy of early Hard ’n’ Heavy—now enriched with greater musical maturity and a stronger technical background.

The decision to adopt the new name WYV85 – with “WYV” as a nod to their roots and “85” recalling the year of their foundation – reflects the intention to clearly distinguish themselves from the activities of Wyvern, a band that, while no longer active for years, was never officially disbanded.

With "WYV85," we return to the stage today with passion, experience, and fresh creative energy, ready to offer the audience a sound that blends tradition and modernity, memory and future.
